THE FOUNDATION OF GHE

Five Pillars

The principles that guide how Global Health Explorers learns, acts, grows, and serves future generations.

FROM PRINCIPLES TO PRACTICE

What Guides Global Health Explorers?

The Constitution of Global Health Explorers establishes the organization's purpose, values, and long-term commitment. The Five Pillars translate those principles into a practical framework for learning, action, leadership, and institutional development.

Together, the pillars provide a common foundation for learners, educators, families, mentors, partners, and future leaders who contribute to the GHE community.

01

Learning

GHE places learning at the heart of its mission. Young people are encouraged to explore global health, science, society, environment, equity, and human wellbeing through accessible and engaging education.

Learning is understood as a continuous process that develops knowledge, curiosity, critical thinking, and the confidence to ask meaningful questions.

02

Equity

GHE recognizes that health and opportunity are not distributed equally. Understanding inequities and their underlying determinants is essential to advancing healthier communities.

Equity therefore informs how GHE approaches education, participation, partnerships, technology, and opportunities for young people.

03

Evidence & Innovation

GHE encourages learners to value evidence, scientific inquiry, data literacy, creativity, and responsible innovation.

New technologies, including artificial intelligence, should be explored thoughtfully, with attention to accuracy, ethics, transparency, and potential impact.

04

Compassion & Community

Global health is ultimately about people. GHE encourages empathy, respect, compassion, and a sense of responsibility toward others and the communities in which we live.

Learners are encouraged to listen to diverse perspectives, appreciate different experiences, and understand that meaningful health improvement depends on collaboration and collective action.

05

Leadership & Action

GHE believes that knowledge becomes most meaningful when it can contribute to positive action. Young people are encouraged to transform learning and reflection into constructive contributions.

Leadership is understood not simply as authority, but as the ability to listen, collaborate, take responsibility, inspire others, and contribute to healthier and more equitable communities.

THE GHE FRAMEWORK

Five Pillars. One Shared Purpose.

The Five Pillars are interconnected rather than independent. Together, they create a framework in which knowledge is connected with equity, evidence with responsibility, compassion with community, and learning with meaningful action.
